CSA C22.2 No.198.3-2021
Scope
Scope 1.1 This standard applies to electrical conduits of categories A and B made of very tightly woven glass fabric and coated with acrylic polymer, silicone polymer or vinyl polymer (see table 1 for materials and ratings), and intended for appliances designed to be installed and used in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I (CEC) or ANSI/NFPA 70, National Electrical Code (NEC). A product designed for temperatures higher than those specified in section 1.2 or made of another polymer or fiber may be acceptable: (a) if it meets the performance tests of this standard; and b) long-term thermal aging tests are performed in accordance with UL 746B or CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 0.17, with dielectric strength being the primary property and fire behavior being the secondary property. 1.2 This standard applies to coated electrical conduits having a temperature index of 105, 130, 155, 180, 200, 220 or 240°C. 1.3 This standard applies to coated electrical conduits intended for use in the internal wiring of electrical devices or appliances located in dry or damp locations, where it is not practicable to use a standard insulated conductor , such as the cable supplied with the device (AWM), designed specifically for the situation. Coated electrical conduits are intended to insulate one or more uninsulated or partially insulated conductors, bus bars, component connecting wires or electrical component assemblies. Coated electrical conduits can be used in equipment where they will not be subjected to repeated bending or significant mechanical stress. 1.4 This standard applies to electrical conduits coated with oil-repellent polymers, designed to withstand occasional or intermittent contact with oils. 1.5 This standard does not apply to unimpregnated or uncoated canvas sheaths, as these sheaths are generally not considered acceptable on their own as functional insulation due to the openings inherent in the weave of the fabric. 1.6 This standard does not apply to extruded tubes with reinforcing product, extruded electrical tubes or tubes intended only for mechanical protection, because these products are covered by other standards. 1.7 This standard does not apply to coated electrical conduits which are used to insulate the wire junctions of an electrical installation whose operating temperature exceeds 105°C (class A).
