Scope

The present document describes the characteristics of the Layer 1 multiplexing and channel coding used for family A of the satellite component of UMTS (S-UMTS-A). It is based on the FDD mode of UTRA defined by 3GPP [3]@ [4]@ [5]@ [6] and adapted for operation over satellite transponders.
