Description of Contents: The purpose of this series of publications is to compile values of properties of industrially important compounds in a compact@ convenient@ and systematic form. Each booklet contains information on one@ or a few closely related compounds. The data consist primarily of numerical values of well-defined properties of pure compounds. Some information on health and safety hazards and some references to properties of mixtures and to spectroscopic data are also included. In some cases@ properties of industrially important mixtures are given directly. Most of the data listed are based on experimental measurements reported in the world's scientific literature. Frequently some combination of averaging@ smoothing@ correlation@ interpolation@ extrapolation@ correction@ or unit conversion has been applied to arrive at the final values. In some cases estimation or correlation has been used to fill in gaps where experimental data are missing. Our purpose is to provide@ at a reasonable cost@ data of sufficient reliability for most engineering calculations. We have not made an exhaustive literature search or a complete evaluation in all cases. Whenever possible@ data have been taken from other reliable compilations listed in Section VII and from publications in the primary literature. References to all sources of data are given. In general@ properties which are functions of temperature and/or pressure are calculated at convenient intervals from an empirical or theoretical equation. Wherever practical the equation and its parameters are also given. Data have been reported in terms of SI units@ or multiples of integral powers of ten of SI units. The multiples chosen usually correspond@ at least approximately@ to the cgs metric units.
