Scope

This Recommendation gives the requirements for the flame-retardant characteristics of electric cables and describes the method for testing them. Note. Since the use of a flame-retardant cable alone is not sufficient to prevent propagation of fire under any conditions of installation@ it is recommended that@ wherever the risk of fire propagation is high@ for example in high vertical runs of bunches of cables@ special installation precautions should also be taken. It cannot be assumed that@ because the sample of a cable complies with the performance requirements of this recommendation@ a burn of cables of the same type will be flame retardant.
