Scope

This standard specifies: — • The generic syntax and semantics of the VC-6 bitstream for the interchange of high-quality compressed planar images. — • The generic processes that can be used to calculate grids of component values at specified resolutions from a VC-6 bitstream. — Interplanar processing, bitstream processing, performance considerations, and container formats are out of scope.
