Scope: This document specifies a method of measurement for spray deposition of horizontal boom sprayers using a test rig. Deposition measurements provide a value for potential spray drift. These measurements can be used to compare different setups of the same sprayer. This document applies to mounted, towed and self-propelled horizontal boom sprayers for field crops, horizontal boom sprayers for weed control in orchards/vineyards, and pesticide application for horticultural crops. This document applies to booms that use the same spraying device. If used for the classification of spray drift from sprayers, this document is limited to comparisons of nozzle types, spray pressures and boom heights. NOTE: Further investigation and testing are ongoing considering additional parameters (e.g. airflow assist system, forward speed, nozzle spacing and orientation) for classifying targets.
