This document describes a method for the measurement of the resistance to tracking and the relative tracking index of solid insulating materials, applicable to equipment components and disk-shaped materials used under alternating voltage. This document provides procedures for determining galvanic damage as required. Note 1: The measurement of the tracking resistance index can be used as an acceptance criterion for materials, and can also be used as a method for quality control of materials and parts. The relative tracking index can be mainly used as a parameter for the basic characteristic characterization and performance comparison of materials. This document applies to the evaluation of the composition and surface properties of materials. The composition and surface condition of the material directly affect the evaluation results, so the influence of its composition and surface condition should be considered before selecting a suitable material. The test results of this document cannot be directly used to evaluate the safe creepage distance of electrical equipment. Note 2: This document complies with IEC60664-1. Note 3: Through this test, the tracking resistance performance of materials on electrical equipment working in humid environments can be identified. If it is necessary to evaluate the performance of materials for outdoor use, a more severe long-term test can be used, using a higher voltage and a larger sample size (see the inclined plate test of IEC60587), other test methods (such as inclined plate method) can be compared with this test method The order in which the materials are listed for the titration tests given in the document is different.
