- This standard specifies the terms and definitions, types and basic parameters, basic requirements, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage and quality commitment of low ambient temperature air source heat pump water heaters. This standard applies to heat pump water heaters (hereinafter referred to as water heaters) that use air as the heat source, use motor drive and vapor compression refrigeration cycle, and have a nominal heating capacity greater than 3000 W to produce hot water under low ambient temperature conditions.
