Scope

This standard specifies the terms, performance requirements and technical characteristics of digital selective calling (DSC) equipment (hereinafter referred to as DSC equipment). This standard applies to the Global Maritime Distress Safety System (GMDSS), DSC equipment required for MF, HF and VHF maritime mobile communications, and public communications.
