Scope
This document deals with limits for harmonic currents injected into utility power supply systems. This document specifies the limits of the harmonic components of the input current that may be generated by the equipment under specified test conditions. This document applies to electrical and electronic equipment intended to be connected to the public low-voltage power distribution system with a rated input current of no more than 16A per phase. Non-dedicated arc welding equipment with a rated input current of no more than 16A per phase falls within the scope of this document. All other arc welding equipment does not apply to this document; however, its harmonic current emissions can be assessed using IEC61000 3 12 and related installation restrictions. The tests carried out in accordance with this document are type tests. For systems with a nominal voltage lower than 220V (phase voltage), the limits have not been considered. Note: Words such as device, appliance, component and equipment are used in this document, and they have the same meaning in this document.
