Scope
1. Scope 1.1 These requirements cover steel contained tank assemblies that are used for aboveground storage of flammable liquids and combustible liquids such as gasoline, fuel oil, or similar products with a relative density not greater than 1.0. 1.2 Contained tank assemblies consist of primary tanks contained in steel containments having capacities of not less than 110% of the capacities of the primary tank. The calculation of this capacity includes any part of the primary tank that would be submerged in the containment. 1.3 The minimum design of the containment shall be such that any leak from a perforation in the lower half of the primary tank shall be contained. 1.4 Contained tank assemblies are intended for stationary installation and use in accordance with the following: A National Fire Code of Canada, Part 4; and B CSA B139, Installation Code for Oil Burning Equipment.
