- This standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules and marking, packaging, transportation and storage requirements for caramel pigments produced by the ammonium sulfite method. This standard applies to caramel pigments made from natural raw materials such as sucrose and starch syrup and heated using the ammonium sulfite method, which are used as colorants in the food industry.
