- This document specifies the requirements and test methods for the friction between the foot pads of mobility aids and the walking surface. This document applies to foot pads for normal gait use on dry and flat surfaces, and does not apply to foot pads for special purposes. Example 1: Normal use: Examples include crutches, elbow crutches, forearm support crutches, armpit crutches, framed walkers, wheeled walkers, and table walkers. Example 2: Special purpose: such as ice, snow, etc.
