This Gulf standard specifies the preferred temperatures for use in testing. It aims to establish rules for future temperature testing, and to make such testing compatible and simplified. When setting specifications and methods for testing, temperatures must be selected from among these preferred temperatures as much as possible. However, other temperatures may be used when this is essential for technical reasons. I have given in the appendix an additional list of temperatures taken from international technical documents. These degrees either represent the existing practical application, or they are chosen to meet some special technical needs. It is hoped that in the future, the use of the temperatures given in Clause (2) will be taken into account when updating international documents, if technical considerations allow this. If the lists given in Clause (2) do not provide the appropriate temperature from a technical standpoint, the temperatures in the relevant areas, which are given in the list included in the appendix, must be taken into account.
