This document specifies methods for the application of balanced incomplete block designs in sensory description analysis and preference testing. This document is applicable when the number of samples tested exceeds the number of samples evaluated by the assessor in a single experiment to give reliable results. This document also specifies the basic characteristics of balanced incomplete block designs and establishes guidelines for their application in sensory evaluation.
