This document specifies a method for the determination of the strain hardening modulus for evaluating the slow crack growth resistance of polyethylene materials. This document gives a method for obtaining the strain hardening modulus by determining the stress-strain curve of compression molded specimens. This document specifies the required equipment, precision and sample preparation methods to obtain valid data. The test methods specified in this document are applicable to all kinds of polyethylene materials for pipes and fittings, regardless of the polyethylene production technology, comonomer and catalyst type. NOTE: This method can be used for material development for other purposes.
