- This standard specifies the pH value, water content, free base or free acid, petroleum ether extractables, total alkane sulfonate, alkane monosulfonate content, sulfite, sulfuric acid Test methods for salt, chloride content and other indicators. This standard applies to powdered, slurry and liquid industrial alkyl sulfonates (excluding any products unrelated to preparation). Note: In this standard, industrial alkyl sulfonates refer to alkali metal salts of monosulfonic acid or disulfonic acid prepared from straight-chain alkyl groups without branched compounds through sulfochlorination and sulfoxidation.
