Scope
This document specifies the guidelines for the assessment of fire hazards of electrical and electronic products and the guidelines for the formulation of fire hazard test methods that are directly harmful to people, animals and property. This document outlines the hazard assessment procedure for identifying appropriate product fire test methods and operating guidelines. The principle of this method is to identify fire events (fires) related to products, and to determine the degree to which measurable fire performance is related to the likelihood and consequences of such events, and to determine the appropriate Test methods and operational requirements for performance against fire events. [ ] This document is intended for use by technical committees preparing standards in accordance with the principles set out in IEC Guide 104 and ISO/IEC Guide 5110. One of the tasks of technical committees is to use this series of standards wherever applicable when preparing standards in this field. Unless specifically mentioned or listed in the relevant standards, the requirements, test methods or test conditions of this document will not apply.
