Scope: This document specifies methods for the determination of the total amount of magnesium, calcium, manganese, iron and copper in paper, paperboard and pulp by atomic absorption spectrometry and plasma emission spectrometry. The total amount of magnesium, calcium, manganese, iron and copper includes the acid-soluble and acid-insoluble parts of various elements in the sample. This document applies to all types of paper, board and pulp. The detection limit of magnesium is 0.4mg/kg; the detection limit of calcium is 0.2mg/kg; the detection limit of manganese is 0.4mg/kg; the detection limit of iron is 0.5mg/kg; the detection limit of copper is 0.6mg/kg.
