Scope
I.I This test method covers the detennination of the melting point of semicrystalline polymers (Note 1). NOTE I-Another procedure for the melting point of nylon resins may be found in Specification D 789. 1.2 This test method is applicable to semicrystalline polymers in granular or sheet form, 0.04 mm (1.6 mils) or less in thickness. The normal operating temperature range is 30 to 230°C. A maximum operating temperature of 350°C can be obtained with special equipment (see 7.2). 1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The values in parentheses are given for information only. 1.4 This standard may involve hazardous materials, operations, and equipment. This standard does not purport to address all ofthe safetyproblems associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability ofregulatory limitations prior to use.
