Scope

"These requirements apply to single walled and double walled factory-built chimney connectors. These assemblies do not require field fabrication. They are for use with solid-fuel-fired residential appliances where the flue-gas temperatures do not normally exceed 1000?? Factory-built chimney connectors are intended for use inside buildings to form a connection from an appliance to a factory-built chimney suitable for use with solid fuel. These Factory-built chimney connectors are intended for installation in accordance with the Standard for Chimneys@ Fireplaces@ Vents@ and Solid-Fuel Burning Appliances@ NFPA 211@ and in accordance with codes such as the International Mechanical Code@ the International Residential Code@ and the Uniform Mechanical Code. Factory-built chimney connectors are intended to be installed at the manufacturer's recommended clearance to combustible construction or a minimum clearance of 18 in. (46 cm) to combustible construction and fabricated at the minimum material thickness for steel as required by the Standard for Chimneys@ Fireplaces@ Vents@ and Solid-Fuel Burning Appliances@ NFPA 211 and as described herein. These requirements supplement those specified in the Standard for Factory-Built Chimneys for Residential Type and Building Heating Appliances@ UL 103@ and are not to supersede the requirements of UL 103. (i.e. UL 103 takes precedence over this Supplement) with the following exceptions: a) The table shown in SA3.1.2 applies to chimney connectors@ in lieu of the requirements in Table 6.1 ""Minimum thickness of chimney material"" of UL 103. b) The Markings and Instructions requirements shown in SA5 and SA6@ respectively@ apply to chimney connectors in lieu of the Markings and Instructions requirements of UL 103."
