This standard specifies the requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage, and safety of by-product sulfuric acid. This standard applies to three specifications of 78%, 40% and 28% sulfuric acid that are by-products in chemical production processes such as nitration and etherification. This standard does not apply to the food and pharmaceutical industries.
