The charge to the Committee contains a three-fold objective@ namely: (a) to initiate and arrange for the financing and coordination of research and development pertaining to the hull structure of ships; (b) to integrate and interpret results; and (c) to disseminate pertinent information to those people interested in building and operating ships."
