Scope
This document contains a series of diagrams, icons and symbols to assist the general public in understanding the concepts and processes of collecting and/or processing fingerprints using electronic systems. This series of diagrams, icons and symbols are intended to:  ——Identify types of biometric identification devices;  ——Provide static instructions related to fingerprint identification devices;  ——Demonstrate dynamic real-time information related to fingerprint identification devices;  ——Indicates the status of the fingerprint recognition device. In order to provide these functions, the series of diagrams, icons and symbols includes directional diagrams, icons and symbols as well as real-time action or feedback diagrams, icons and symbols. These fingerprint recognition device diagrams, icons and symbols can be divided into the following types. ——Finger or hand universal biometric identification: finger, four-finger, type of hand device. ——Finger or hand placement: ●Biometric recognition position and the effect to be displayed in the next step; ●Hand direction (switching hand). ●Press (increase or decrease force);  ——Finger or hand quality feedback: ●Increase or decrease the angle. ———Finger or hand position: ●●●Hand or finger direction; necessary finger or hand movement (forward, backward, sideways); ●rotation; ●changing angle; ●rolling finger. Although the diagrams, icons, and symbols are shown individually, the diagrams, icons, and symbols are intended to be combined to fully illustrate the interaction of fingerprints. Other illustrations may be used, for example, in a customs or immigration context, where a process consisting of individual diagrams, icons and symbols could additionally be presented as:  ——a series of posters while waiting to use the biometric system;  ———A series of animated images at the biometric identification console;  ——An animated video or a series of animated images while waiting to use the biometric identification system;  ——Instructional leaflets while waiting to use the biometric identification system. This document focuses primarily on communication with data collection subjects. Operators may use this document, but they may also require additional symbols and information.
