- This standard specifies the basic requirements, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation, storage, quality commitment, etc. for starting lead-acid batteries. This standard applies to vented lead-acid batteries (hereinafter referred to as batteries) and valve-regulated batteries (with gas compound function) with a rated voltage of 12 V for starting, ignition and lighting of various automobiles, tractors and other internal combustion engines. This standard does not apply to batteries used for other purposes, such as batteries for starting railway internal combustion engines.
