This standard specifies requirements for metallic, non-metallic and composite cable strapping and related fixtures. This standard applies to cable ties used in electrical installations, which cable ties and their associated fixtures are used to manage and support the wiring system in the electrical installation. Cable strapping and associated securing devices may also be suitable for other applications and when applying, attention should be paid to whether there are any additional requirements. This standard does not include requirements for evaluating any electrical insulation properties of cable strapping, or the mechanical protection provided by cable strapping to cables. This standard does not consider the requirements for mechanical interfaces of fixtures to solid surfaces, such as walls or ceilings.
