Scope: This standard, part of the IEC 60695 series of standards, specifies a test method for mold stress relief. It applies to electrical equipment and its parts made of polymer materials. This test method is intended to evaluate the effects that appear after removing the internal residual stresses that arise during the molding of polymer parts into the finished product. The stress relief process occurs when a sample (either on or off) is tested at a specified temperature for a specified period of time. The test sample is considered to have passed the test if, after reaching room temperature, it meets the specified criteria. This standard is a foundational safety standard and is intended for use by technical committees in developing standards in accordance with the provisions set out in IEC Guide 104 and ISO/IEC Guide 51. Foundational standards are to be used in developing product-specific safety standards. The requirements, methods and test conditions specified in this safety standard do not apply if there is no corresponding reference in the product standards
