- This standard specifies a method for the determination of methanol, ethanol, tert-butanol, methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE), ethyl tert-butyl ether (ETBE), tert-amyl methyl ether (TAME) and diisopropyl ether (DIPE) in gasoline by infrared spectroscopy. . The method is used to determine the mass fraction of methanol from 0.1% wt. up to 6% wt.; ethanol - from 0.1% wt. up to 11% wt.; tert-butanol - from 0.1% wt. up to 14% wt. and DIPE, MTBE, ETBE and TAME - from 0.1% wt. up to 20% mass
