Scope
It stipulates the general requirements for ultrasonic testing personnel, testing process documents, testing equipment, phased array probes, test blocks, scanning devices, and coupling agents. This clause is based on the clauses in the relevant standards of conventional phased array ultrasound, and takes into account the special requirements for the detection of non-metallic pipe joints. In particular, detailed provisions are made for the phased array probe used for testing: the convergence area range of the focused probe should be able to meet Requirements for detecting the depth of defects in electrofusion joints of polyethylene pipes and having good coordination with the surface being inspected. Considering that non-metallic pipes have a serious impact on the attenuation of ultrasound, the phased array probe should be composed of multiple chips (array elements) (not less than 32) to ensure that the probe has sufficient energy to penetrate the pipe to be tested. The requirements also specify sensitivity differences between probe elements.
