Scope
"INTRODUCTION Everyone agrees that personal safety and prevention of bodily harm are the most important considerations in a robbery ?? but too many dealers and employees don't know what to do or how to act. This publication tells you and your men how to protect your own lives and well-being in the event your service station is held up. This booklet emphasizes the things you should do to minimize your personal danger during a robbery. It also suggests what procedures to follow immediately after a holdup. Why do so many ""rookie"" robbers pick a service station for their first ""job""? Why do drunks@ dope addicts and spur-of-the-moment petty ""crooks"" stick up or break into service stations? The answer is that stations are frequently more vulnerable than other business establishments and@ therefore@ more attractive to criminal types. Too many stations are easy to rob. There is much you can do about the fact that so many robbers and burglars think of service stations first when they decide to steal. This publication emphasizes precautions which may be taken and highlights recommended good business practices which will discourage criminals from selecting your service station to rob or burglarize in the first place. By following good practices@ you can make your station more difficult to rob and less attractive to a' potential robber. If your station is obviously a ""hard one to hit@"" you will reduce the chances of being a target for robbery or burglary and this@ in turn@ reduces the chances that you or your employees will be injured."
