Preparation of steel substrates before application of paints and related products—Specifications for non-metallic blast-cleaning abrasives—Part 9: Staurolite (English Version)

Scope: This document specifies the particle size range, apparent density, Mohs hardness, water content, conductivity of water leachate, and water-soluble chloride content of phillips abrasives for blast cleaning. The requirements specified in this document apply only to unused abrasives, not to abrasives during or after use. See the various parts of ISO 11127 for test methods for non-metallic abrasives for blast cleaning. Note 1: Refer to the references for foreign standards commonly referred to by non-metallic abrasives. Note 2: Although this document is specially developed to meet the requirements of the surface preparation of steel structures, the characteristics specified are generally applicable to surfaces or components of other materials treated by blast cleaning technology.
