This standard specifies the technical requirements for physical vapor deposition of aluminum coatings on low-carbon steels, low-alloy steels, high-strength steels, corrosion-resistant steels, aluminum alloys, titanium alloys, and other suitable base metals. Physical vapor deposition aluminum coating is not suitable for various steels with tensile strength >1 400 MPa, because the corrosion or cathodic protection of such steels during use and storage may lead to hydrogen embrittlement.
