Scope

This report covers torque indicating and limiting devices@ also referred to as torque wrenches or torque handles@ accessories used to obtain predetermined torque values on nuts@ bolts@ plumbing@ related fasteners and friction of rotating parts@ etc; calibration equipment and recommended schedules; proper use of tools and chronic torque problems. PURPOSE To outline practices and procedures which can lead to a better understanding of the requirement for proper application and use of torque indicating tools and accessories as applied to aerospace propulsion systems to prevent thermal and mechanical distortions and possible catastrophic failure of parts due to improper torque application.
