Scope
This standard covers connectors used for making electrical connections between insulated aluminum cables rated 601 V through 46 000 V. This standard is concerned with performance requirements for the thermal@ mechanical@ and current -carrying characteristics of connections for the usual buried and in-air operating conditions. In cases where service conditions are unusual@ the manufacturer should be contacted for additional requirements. This standard covers connections insulated tapes@ field-molded compounds@ or with premolded insulation systems.
