INTRODUCTION This study@ conducted for the American Petroleum Institute@ was designed to evaluate the fertility and reproductive performance of male and female rats when administered mixed Xylenes by chamber inhalation at dose levels of 60@ 250 and 500 ppm. Test substance was administered 6 hours/day@ daily during a pre-mating treatment period and mating period. Mated females continued to be treated 6 hours/day during gestation (Day 1-20) and lactation (Day 5-20) periods. The general protocol@ including species and strain of test animal@ dose levels and route of test substance administration were established by the sponsor. Testing was conducted at Bio/dynamics@ Inc.@ Mettlers Road@ East Millstone@ New Jersey 08873. Raw data will be stored in the archives of Bio/dynamics. Inc.
