Scope
1.1 This standard applies to power supply equipment for electric vehicles (EVs) with a primary voltage of not more than 600 Vac and a frequency of 50 or 60 Hz, and which is designed to provide alternating current power to a electric vehicle equipped with a charging system. This standard covers electrical power equipment for electric vehicles intended for use in locations where ventilation is not required. 1.2 With respect to section 1.1, electrical power equipment for electric vehicles covered by this standard includes: (a) EV cords — suitable for not more than 125 VAC, 16 A maximum, for use at 'inside or outside; b) secured EV charging stations — suitable for no more than 250 Vac, 40 A maximum for indoor or outdoor use; (c) fixed EV charging stations — suitable for up to 600 V AC, for indoor or indoor and outdoor use; and (d) a fixed EV outlet — suitable for not more than 600 VAC, for indoor or indoor and outdoor use. For Mexico, replace the values 120 or 125 Vac indicated in this standard with 127 Vac. This measure does not apply to Canada or the United States. 1.3 Products covered by this standard are designed to be used in accordance with the installation codes listed in Reference No. 1 of Appendix A. 1.4 This standard does not apply to detachable cords or power cords used in d purposes other than EV charging. For detachable cords and power cords not covered by this standard, see references no. 2 and 3 in Appendix A. 1.5 With regard to section 1.2, this standard does not apply to the electric vehicle charging equipment. For EV charging equipment not covered by this standard, see reference no. 4 of Appendix A. 1.6 This standard does not apply to EV connectors. For connectors for electric vehicles not covered by this standard, see reference No. 5 of Annex A. 1.7 This standard does not apply to general purpose electrical outlets. For general purpose power outlets not covered by this standard, see reference no. 6 of Appendix A. 1.8 This standard does not apply to equipment designed for wireless power transfer, also called wireless charging, induction charging, magnetic resonance charging, or any other similar designation describing the transfer of energy between electric vehicle power equipment (MAVÉ) and the vehicle through a connection other than a conductive connection.
