This document specifies the general requirements, test product requirements, test voltage and test procedures for steep wave front impact testing of basin insulators for gas-insulated metal-enclosed switchgear (GIS) of 72.5kV and above. This document is applicable to basin insulators for GIS, HGIS and other types of equipment of 72.5kV and above. The inspection of other insulating parts of gas insulated equipment can be carried out with reference to this document.
