Purpose: This specification covers the engineering requirements for automatic peening of surfaces of parts by impingement of metallic shot@ glass beads@ or ceramic shot. Application:To induce residual compressive stress in surface layers of parts@ thereby increasing fatigue strength and resistance to stress-corrosion cracking. This process may also be used to straighten or form parts or for testing bond of plated materials.
