Scope

LED, as a new type of light source, has injected new momentum into the development of harmful insect attraction and control technology. LED has a narrow wavelength range, monochromatic light color, high brightness, low energy consumption, and long life, making it the optimal诱虫光源. LED mosquito lamps are also an important tool for disease vector monitoring and control, with increasingly wide-ranging applications. Monochromatic LED light sources not only address the shortcomings of traditional light sources such as a broad spectral range and poor specificity towards pests; under the same energy consumption conditions, their light intensity is stronger than other light sources, offering broader coverage in terms of light projection area and control range, significantly improving the collection rate of target pests and reducing potential harm to natural enemies and neutral insects. The CSAS has already issued a technical report T/CSA/TR 012—2023《LED Light Application Technology for Mosquito Attraction and Elimination》and an indoor application standard T/CSA 073—2021《Technical Requirements for Performance of Indoor UV LED Mosquito Lamps》for this field. The usage environment for outdoor LED mosquito lamps is more complex compared to indoors, with factors such as solar radiation, temperature, humidity, and air flow changing easily, leading to errors in the trapping effect relative to indoor conditions. Additionally, outdoor LED mosquito lamps need to consider human and animal safety, target insect attraction rate (benefit-to-harm ratio), environmental applicability, and waterproofing requirements. Based on these considerations, CSA has formulated T/CSA 075, which categorizes and sets technical requirements and test methods for UV LED mosquito lamps used in outdoor settings, applicable to outdoor mosquito lamps that utilize supplementary LED UV light through methods such as scent or CO2, temperature.
