1.1 This specification covers synthetic red iron oxide for use in paints and coatings manufactured by any of the following:
1.1.1 Calcination of iron salts.
1.1.2 Precipitation from iron salts.
1.1.3 Calcination of synthetic iron oxide.
1.1.4 Product of organic reduction.
1.2 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
