1.1 This standard applies to electric clothes dryers intended for use in non-hazardous locations in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I and the National Electrical Code (NEC, United States), and connected to leads whose voltage nominal does not exceed 600 V. 1.2 This standard applies to corded and permanently plugged dryers. The affected devices are intended for non-specialized users, regardless of how the device is powered on. They are intended for household and commercial purposes, and include machines with coin, ticket or card collection devices, as well as washer-dryers. 1.3 This standard does not apply to industrial devices or devices used in institutions, to which standard UL 1240, Electric Commercial Clothes-Drying Equipment, applies. Note. Industrial devices and devices used in institutions are not intended for the general public, but exclusively for trained or supervised personnel.
