This standard specifies the definition, test methods and acceptance criteria of rod-shaped suspended rigid composite insulators for overhead lines in AC systems with nominal voltages higher than 1000V. This standard applies to rigid composite insulators (hereinafter referred to as insulators) for overhead lines, substation suspension and tensile strength with a nominal voltage higher than 1000V. The insulator consists of an insulating core rod, an umbrella sleeve and an end assembly. The load-bearing core rod is made of resin-impregnated fiberglass. The end assembly is permanently installed on the insulating core rod. The umbrella sleeve is made of hard composite material.
