Scope
Dynamic analysis of pressurized components is a key element in satisfying specified safety and economical requirements in the design process. Recognizing this@ PVRC initiated work to establish needs and priorities@ recommend research programs@ and help direct research activities toward industrial applications. A series of interpretive reports has been issued to record the progress and results of this work: WRC Bulletin 246@ 1979; WRC Bulletin 269@ 1981; WRC Bulletin 303@ 1985; and WRC Bulletin 336@ 1988. This Bulletin@ the fifth in the series@ summarizes the advances made since 1988 and presents new technical issues involving dynamic stress criteria@ pressure transients@ fluid-structure interaction@ seismic analysis@ and dynamic restraints. Intended to be a generic guide to future research@ it recommends and prioritizes specific research topics which reflect the current as well as the future research needs of industry. Publication of this document - WRC Bulletin No. 393 was sponsored by the Committee on Dynamic Analysis and Testing of the Pressure Vessel Research Council
