- This document specifies the structural type, installation type and classification of terminal box positions of rotating electrical machines - IM codes. The two classification methods are specified as follows: --- Code 1 (see Chapter 4): Alphanumeric code applies to motors with end shield bearings and a shaft extension. ——Code 2 (see Chapter 5): The all-digital code is applicable to a wider range of motor types, including the motor types involved in Code 1. Motor types not listed in code 2 require a complete text description. See Appendix A for the relationship between Code 1 and Code 2.
