Scope
Scope 1.1 This standard sets out the technical requirements for the interconnection of distributed energy resources (DERs) and distribution networks using phase-to-phase voltage of up to 50 kV at the point of common coupling (PCC). 1.2 This standard does not define the maximum capacity of DERs or the upper voltage limit for installations interconnected with a single PCC or connected to a given feeder. 1.3 This standard aims to establish minimum requirements relating to: a) personal safety; b) continuity of service; and (c) protection of property. 1.4 This standard does not apply to secondary network connections and does not address the following subjects: a) protection of the electricity producer's installation; (b) requirements for the operation of DERs; (c) the impact on the distribution network or related modifications; (d) the planning, design or operation of the distribution network or RED system; (e) metering, pricing or other contractual or commercial aspects associated with the interconnection; or f) the interconnection of distributed energy resources and distribution networks that are not themselves connected to a provincial or regional electricity grid (i.e., isolated areas). Note: The network owner may choose to apply this standard in whole or in part, when necessary for the network in question. 1.5 In this standard, the term “shall” indicates a requirement, that is, a requirement that the user must comply with to ensure compliance with the standard; “should” indicates a recommendation or what is advisable but not obligatory to do; and “may” indicates a possibility or what is permitted to be done. The notes that accompany the articles do not include prescriptions or recommendations. They are used to separate from the text explanations or information that are not properly part of the standard. Notes at the bottom of figures and tables are part of these and can be written as prescriptions. The annexes are qualified as normative (mandatory) or informative (optional) to clarify their application.
