- This document describes the terms and definitions, general principles of assessment, assessment procedures and documentation of the functional safety assessment method for explosion protection systems used in explosive environments. This document is applicable to the functional safety assessment of the explosion protection system in the design, manufacture, use, maintenance, testing and inspection. This document does not apply to the following situations: --- Identification of potential ignition sources and risk assessment of ignition hazards; --- Functional safety assessment of monitoring systems for explosive hazardous environments; --- Conformity verification of specific types of explosion protection systems.
