- This standard specifies the classification and measurement methods of high-speed directly modulated lasers and their components for optical communications. This standard is applicable to the measurement of the optoelectronic characteristics of high-speed directly modulated lasers and their components used in optical communication systems such as optical transmission networks, optical access networks and data centers, and to simulate the optoelectronic characteristics of lasers and their components used in optical communication systems and other optical systems. Measurements can also be used as a reference.
