1 Scope 1.1
This Standard applies to single-phase electric tools of the bench type that are intended for use in nonhazardous locations in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I, and that are connected to a nominal system voltage of 240 V or less. 1.2
This Standard does not apply to
(a) tools intended for industrial use;
(b) tools covered by CSA C22.2 No. 73;
(c) tools covered by CSA C22.2 No. 105; and
(d) magnetic drill presses or diamond core drills, which are covered by CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 71.1. 1.3
The values given in SI (metric) units are the standard. Where values are given in parentheses, they are for information only. 1.4
In CSA Standards, "shall" is used to express a requirement, i.e., a provision that the user is obliged to satisfy in order to comply with the standard; "should" is used to express a recommendation or that which is advised but not required; "may" is used to express an option or that which is permissible within the limits of the standard; and "can" is used to express possibility or capability.
