- This International Standard provides guidance for the design and implementation of environmental performance evaluations (EPEs) within organizations. Applicable to any organization regardless of type, size, geography and complexity. This standard does not establish specific environmental performance levels. Organizations can use their own methods to implement environmental performance evaluation (EPE) according to the guidance in this standard, including fulfilling their commitment to compliance with legal and other requirements, pollution prevention and continual improvement. Note: This standard is a general standard and does not include guidance on specific methods for evaluating or measuring different environmental impacts in different industries or disciplines. Depending on the nature of their activities, organizations often need to refer to other sources for additional information and guidance on industry-specific issues, different topics or different subject areas.
