The standard applies to frosted air coolers with a dry cooling capacity greater than 1 kW under the standard conditions for which the cooler is submitted for testing, which work with an (evaporating) refrigerant or with a (non-evaporating) refrigerant, and in which one or more fans maintain a one-sided, horizontal air flow through the cooler block. The standard only applies to air coolers that are equipped for one of the following defrosting methods: a. electric defrosting; b. defrost with warm liquid; c. defrosting with compressed gas; d. defrost with passing air. The standard does not apply to cooler blocks intended for installation in air ducts and other equipment and to coolers that are closed during defrosting.
